Faces from the past
Although camera ownership was limited only to wealthy families in the 1860s, by the 1890s photographic studios were relatively widely available. In spite of this, our researchers have located portrait photographs (and some informal 'snaps') for only a few of those who are buried in the cemetery. Here are some of them. As our research continues, we expect to find more of these evocative images.
