Her father had served in India in the Army. The family lived in Scotland on return from India and then moved to Worthing in 1908 living at "Kinara" in Manor Road. Elinor died in Worthing the same year. Grace went to a private school at "Grasmere" Manor Road run by Annie Charlotte Fisher. Grace trained as a nurse. In 1916 she was living at Aston Vicarage, Nantwich, Cheshire and working as a nursing under sister at Naunton Park Auxiliary Hospital. She then worked for the Scottish Women's Hospital for the rest of the war. In November 1918, Grace was working as a driver/ chauffeur for the British Committee of the French Red Cross at the Abbaye de Royaumont just north of Paris. This was a hospital for injured soldiers. In 1919, Grace was awarded the British War and Victory medals. She continued her nursing work and in 1925 was working at St Thomas' Hospital, Lambeth as a midwife. Grace died in St Thomas' Hospital on 13 Jul of Rt. Empyema and Pneumonia. Probate was granted on 7 Sep to Nancy Puckle, spinster.
