Life story

Lydia Evans was born in Gower, Swansea in 1863, her father was John G. Davies, a Clergyman, her mother was Alice Llewellyn Davies. Lydia married William Archard Evans, Mariner, in 1885 in Swansea. She afterwards appears to have lived with her widowed mother presumably while her husband was at sea. In 1911, William, 52yrs, now a retired Master Mariner, lived with Lydia, 48yrs, at 179, Kings Road, Kingston Hill, Kingston-on-Thames, Surrey. According to the census, they had had 3 children but only one had survived. Lydia was widowed in 1921 and died on 18th May 1933, aged 70yrs, at 14 Cavendish Road, Kilburn, London.
