Life story

Herbert Pearce was born in 1889 in Heene, Sussex. His father, Edward Searby was a butler, living at Milton Street, Worthing and his mother, Caroline Amelia Price, was a seamstress. He had one brother and two sisters. He died aged 6 months and was buried in Heene Cemetery, Sussex.

Herbert's brother, Arthur, served as a footman and was a seaman in the navy. His sister, Violet, was a painter of golf balls before her marriage and his other sister, Gertrude Bessie, died in infancy and was buried at Heene.
