Worthing Herald, June 1940 - Death of Amateur Composer - An amateur musician and composer, Mr Francis John Morgan, died at his home, 65, Mill Road, Worthing on Friday at the age of 74. He had lived in Worthing for the past 11 years and was a retired businessman, a managing director of a press cutting agency. He had many orchestral compositions accepted by the B.B.C. and some of his works were performed by the Municipal Orchestra when it was under the direction of John Heuval. He was himself an accomplished pianist. The funeral took place at Heene Cemetery on Monday. Mr Morgan leaves a son and two daughters.

John Emil Morgan - son of Frances John Morgan
John was born in Birmingham, Warwickshire on 4th September 1891 to Frances John and Henrietta Amelia Morgan. In 1911 he was living with his family at 299 Seven Sisters Road, Finsbury Park and working as a Traveller in Press Cutting Agency. The 4th January 1915 saw John Emil, aged 21yrs, marry Millicent Pugh of St Andrew Alexandra Park Road at St Olave, Stoke Newington. The UK Navy Lists of 1915 show a Flight Sub-Lieutenant John Emil Morgan and he received the Royal Aero Club Aviators Certificate on 9th August 1915. The certificate was taken on Maurice Farman Bi-plane at Central Flying School, Upavon Sadly, Flight sub-lieutenant John Emil Royal Naval Air Service, aged 26, of 74 Muswell Road, Muswell Hill, Middlesex died on 30th March 1917 leaving effects of £260.13s.8d to Geoffrey Holt Stilwell Banker and Naval Agent.

John Emil is buried and commemorated in the Baghdad (North Gate) War Cemetery, Iraq XXI. E. 3.
