Life story

Clara Sarah Yeomans was baptised on 3rd April 1842 at Frimley, Surrey; she was the daughter of William Yeomans, 25yrs, Bailiff, and Caroline, 19yrs, nee Gosman, she had 4 siblings, Caroline b.1844, Thomas b.1846, Eliza b.1848, and William b.1851.

On 28th March 1863, aged 19yrs, Clara married Joseph Holloway, 22yrs, bricklayer, at St. John's Parish Church, Lambeth. Clara's husband was born in Wraysbury, Buckinghamshire, and they set up their home there, having 7 children over the following 19 years: Clara b.1864, Joseph b.1866, Annie b.1868, Edith b.1870, Frederick 1873, Elizabeth b1876, and Ethel b.1881.

Clara, Joseph, and their family moved to Worthing, Sussex, and in 1891 were living at Grafton Road. Clara was widowed in 1901 and supported herself by turning her home into a lodging house. Clara and her unmarried daughters remained living in Worthing, moving to Rugby Road, 1911 census, and where they were still residents in 1921.

Clara died on 16th January 1928, aged 85yrs.
