Life story

Life story

Anna Bowen was born in Marylebone on 29 July 1835 to collector of Queen's taxes, John Bowen and Anna Catherine Artaud. It was her mother's second marriage. Her mother had a daughter by her first husband, William Artaud. Anna had two brothers and four sisters including her half sister, Mary Anne. She lived in North London until at least 1911 and had no listed occupation. Her sister Mary Anne Artaud married Thomas Felton. Mary died in 1898 and Thomas and his family moved to Worthing. Thomas had a son William Felton who was a chemist.

Mary probably moved to live with her brother-in-law Thomas Felton and died on 19 September 1920. She was buried in Heene Cemetery. Probate was granted to her sister Ella and nephew chemist William Felton.
