Life story

William Charles Honess was born in 1873, he was baptised on 9th March at Broadwater, Worthing. He had a half-sister, Emily, 12yrs. His father, Charles, 30yrs, married his mother, a widow, Sarah Short, 35yrs, in June 1870. When William was 8yrs old, the family lived at 36, Park Road, Worthing, his father was a Builder's Foreman, 41yrs, Sarah, 46yrs, and Emily, 20yrs, they employed 1 domestic servant. In 1891 William, 18yrs, was a Draper's Assistant, he lived as a Boarder in the household of Walter Chatterly and his family at 11, Childs Street, Kensington, London. Ten years later William, 28yrs, Draper's Assistant, was back living in Worthing with his retired parents at Park Road, Worthing. William Charles Honess died on 17th July 1904 at Karos' Rowlands Road, Worthing, the home of his brother-in-law, aged 31yrs. His death certificate gave the cause of death as Phthisis Exhaustion.
