Life story

Mary Moncaster Mitcheson was born on 4th March 1842 in Poplar, London, she was baptised on 6th April 1842 at St. Anne, Limehouse. Mary was the daughter of Robert William Mitcheson, 26yrs, Anchorsmith, and Sarah, 29yrs, nee Smith; she was the eldest of 4 children, William b.1844, Margaret b.1848, and Edward b.1850.

On 9th March 1861, Mary, 19yrs, married George Bullen, 27yrs, at Limehouse St. Anne, he was an Insurance Underwriter, and over the following fifteen years they had 8 children.

George had retired by 1911 and at some point, afterwards, he and Mary moved to Worthing, Sussex, where they lived at Escot, St. Michael's Road.

George died on 19th May 1922, aged 88yrs, Mary remained in Worthing, and her address at the time of her death was Rothesay, St. Botolph's Road.

She died on 25th October 1934, aged 92yrs, probate was granted to her daughters, Laura Mary and Eleanor Louise Bullen, spinsters, effects £5701 12s 8d. Value 2021 - £428K.
