Life story

Life story

Kate Parsons (also known as Catherine and Kitty) was born in 1815 in Worthing to fisherman, Charles Parsons and Elizabeth nee Norris. She was baptised at Broadwater on 10 April 1817. She had five siblings: Charles, Jane, Louisa, William and Caroline. Her mother died in 1863 and her father in 1865.

Kate earned her living from needlework and by 1871 was housekeeper to boot and shoemaker Richard Finnis of Montague Street. Richard died in 1885.

She died in September 1897 in Worthing aged 80 and was buried on 28th September, 1897 at Heene Cemetery, Worthing, Sussex.
