Kate was born in Lesmahagow, Lanarkshire, the daughter of Lewis and Louisa. Her father was a groom working on the estate at Harperfield. By 1888, the family had moved to Teston, Kent where Lewis was working on a local estate. Lewis died that year and Louisa found work in London. Kate and her brother Henry were sent to live with their grandparents Henry and Mary Goodger in Brunswick Road, Worthing. By 1901, Kate and her mother were living in Milton Street where Kate worked as a dressmaker. In 1904, Kate was admitted to the Sussex County Asylum where she spent the rest of her life. At the time she was living at 6 Milton Street and working as a parlourmaid. She died in the asylum on 20th October 1913. She had been suffering from tuberculosis for a year.  No probate.
