Life story

Life story

Jessie Hunt was born in Edmonton, Middlesex, in 1868; her parents were, William Hunt, 28yrs, Miller, and Harriet, 25yrs, nee Jenkinson. Jessie had one sister, Elizabeth, born 1871.

Both Elizabeth and Jessie lived with their parents for most of their lives; neither of them ever married, and although Jessie was an art student when very young, they did not appear to have occupations. The family lived in Edmonton, Middlesex, then moved to Essex, living at Chingford, and later, Leyton; when their father retired, they moved to Worthing, living at Eyncourt, Shelley Road, where he died in 1907. The sisters remained in Worthing with their widowed mother, moving to Tennyson Road in 1911, and then to 28, Winchester Road, where Harriet died, aged 91yrs, in 1932.

Jessie died, aged 74yrs, on 21st June 1944, and Elizabeth died, aged 88yrs, on 8th February 1960.
