Life story

Life story

Janet Stuchfield was born in 1858 at Kings Cross, Middlesex. Her father was George Stuchfield, 32yrs, a Coffee House Keeper, her mother, Jenet, she had a younger brother, Henry, born 1860. In 1879, aged 21yrs, Janetta, as she now called herself, married Charles Randall Francis, a Grocer, on 14th July, at St. Peter's Church, Brighton, Sussex. Their daughter, Emma, was born in 1880, a son, Horace Arthur, in 1888, and two more daughters, Eva, 1891, and Hilda 1893. Charles expanded his grocery business becoming a Wine and Spirit Merchant at 78, Western Road, Brighton, and by 1901 he had moved his family to 'Ivanhoe' St. Botolph's Road, Worthing. Tragedy struck the family in 1911 when Janetta died on 20th January, aged 52yrs, 7 days after the death of her husband, Charles, 63yrs, on 13th January.
