Life story

Life story

George Edwin Dutton was born in July 1839 in Hanley, Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire. He was the son of William Bailey Dutton, 45yrs, Magistrate and Alderman, and Anne, 38, nee Booth. He had 3 siblings, William b.1827, Eliza b.1832, and Louisa b.1841.

In 1869, having left Staffordshire, George married Elizabeth Maria Sampson, at Lambeth, in January 1869. They had 2 sons, Edwin J. b.1871, and Richard E. b.1880.

In 1881 George was employed as a legal clerk to Mr. Burton, a solicitor of Mitre Court, Temple, London, and he was living with his family in Wimbledon. George continued his career as a legal clerk until retiring at 6oyrs and moving to Worthing, Sussex, where they lived at Malvern Terrace.

George died, aged 66yrs, in February 1906, he was buried at Heene Cemetery on 1st March 1906.
