Evelyn Amie Teversham Buckeridge (nee Bushby) of Heene Way, was born in Worthing in 1879, and died in June 1973. In 1881 the Bushby family was living in Park Road.
Father Thomas, born Sompting, was a Gardener, his wife was Annie, born in Brighton. Evelyn was the youngest of their six children. In 1891, at Heene farm, Thomas Bushby was a Market Gardener and Nurseryman, and Evelyn was a scholar aged 11.
In 1901 the family was living at Homestead, in Heene. Thomas and Annie with Evelyn and Jennie, Evelyn's older sister, plus one female Domestic Servant.
Evelyn married Francis Malcolm Buckeridge in 1905 and they divorced in1923. By 1911 they were living apart. They had one daughter, Vera, in 1907 who lived only eight months and is also buried in the Cemetery. Francis was born in Paddington in 1883 and in 1891, living with his 3 older brothers, and 2 Domestic Servants, he was at a school in Selsey. In 1901 Francis M was a Railway Signalman living with his parents in Rotherhithe and in 1911 he was a Motor Engineer and Boarder, living alone in the Bayswater Road. In 1911 Evelyn was a married woman, living on private means', with her parents, two older sisters, Jennie and Agnes May, plus one Domestic Servant, in Heene Croft. Agnes was married in 1900 to Frederick Palmer, who died in 1902. They had one child, a boy, who died in childhood. Agnes, of Heene Croft, died in 1961, at 10 St Michael's Road, but isn't buried in Heene Cemetery. Sister Jennie didn't marry.
In the 1939 census, Evelyn is still living in Heene Croft, with Jennie and Agnes, plus two Private Nurses. Jennie, now in her 80s, has household duties', while her sisters are described as retired.
When Evelyn died, a wealthy woman. in 1973, she was living at 31 Heene Way. Her ashes were scattered in the Cemetery among the last people whose remains were put there before it closed.
