Life story

Elsie Mary Halloway was born on 1st August 1884 in Horsham, Sussex to Richard and Alice Halloway.  Richard, Elsie's Father, was born in 1859 in Horsham, and by 1881 was a Farmer of 220 acres employing 4 men and 3 boys at Goff's Land Farm, Shipley, Horsham, Sussex.  He married Alice Botting on 16th October 1883 at the parish church Loxwood, Sussex. Sadly for Elsie's Mother Alice, she lost her husband Richard on 12th November 1884, while living at Cawood cottage Heene, Worthing, Sussex, he was buried in Shipley, Sussex. Then just a month later she lost her Daughter Elsie as well on 22nd December 1884. It is unknown what happened to Alice after her husband and daughter's death.
