Alice Passmore was born on the 27th November 1867 in Windsor Berkshire to James Francis and Johanna Passmore. Alice's Father James worked as a Leather cutter. They lived in Bexley Street, Clewer, New Windsor Berkshire. By 1881 the family had moved to Rickmansworth in Hertfordshire. James was still working as a Leather Cutter and Alice was attending school.
By 1901 Alice had left home and was working as a Domestic Housemaid for William Evans, a Retail Silversmith, living at Poyle Road, Stanwell, Middlesex. Sometime between 1901 and 1910, William Evans moved to East Ferring house, Ferring, Sussex, and Alice moved with him. William Evans died in 1910, and left £100 to his servant Alice plus a further amount of £200:-
Worthing Gazette - 21st December 1910 - Ferring - Legacies to Servants: The will of the late Mr William Evans, of East Ferring House, has been proved at $18,291. Apart from the family legacies, he left £100 to his gardener, James Weston, and £100 to his servant, Alice Passmore. The residue is left in trust for his sister, Emma Amelia Evans, for life, and then Alice Passmore will benefit to the further extent of £200.
In 1911 she has become a servant to Annie Dullam who lived at the Goring by Sea, Post Office, Ferring Sussex. The pair remained friends as by 1921 Alice is still living with Annie Dullam, but is described on the 1921 census as a friend who does domestic duties. They are now living at 42 Rowlands Road Worthing Sussex. Annie Dullam died in 1926 and is buried at Heene Cemetery.
Alice moved to 47 Sompting road Worthing by 1939 where she remained until her death. According to the probate record, she was last seen alive on the 2nd March 1962, and her body was found on the 3rd March 1962. She left an amount of £7519 9s 8d, but it is not known who she left the money to as the probate was to Westminster Bank.
