B. Gilled Mushrooms (PHYSALACRIACEAE)
Members of this family commonly produce clumps of mushrooms on dead or dying trees and shrubs.
C. Velvet Shank (Flammulina velutipes)
Clusters of tan yellow mushrooms on decaying deciduous trees betray this species. The colour darkens towards the centre of the smooth, slimy cap. In the days before Dutch Elm Disease it preferred elm.
