The plants of the mallow family have downy or hairy stems with palmately lobed leaves, and often colourful 5-petalled flowers. Okra, cotton, cacao, and hibiscus are among its commercially important plants. The confection marshmallow is no longer made from the roots of the Marsh Mallow.
