B. Jumping Spiders (SALTICIDAE)

There are in the region of 6,000 Jumping spiders worldwide, making them the largest group of spiders. All species in this group have excellent vision, and although they do indeed jump when hunting, they tend to move cautiously and slowly.

Jumping spiders have four pairs of eyes.

C. Narrow-banded Zebra Spider (Salticus cingulatus)

This small spider is about half a centimetre in length. It is pale grey in colour, hairy and has dark triangular markings. This individual is considerably paler than Salticus scenicus, having more white hairs on the abdomen.

Females can be seen all year round, but males mostly in spring and summer. This individual was photographed in the Cemetery on a sunny day in April 2022.
