B. Blow-flies (CALLIPHORIDAE)

The female blow-fly will lay eggs (up to 250 at a time) into living or dead animals or their dung. The maggots of blow flies are often used as fishing bait, and are known as gentles.

C. Greenbottle (Lucilia caesar)

The green abdominal colour and the silvery jowls are distinctive. It breeds on carrion, or live animals, but unlike the Bluebottle it rarely enters houses. Blowfly Strike in sheep is caused by greenbottles laying eggs in the sheep's bodies.
