This is a family of salmon-pink, spored mushrooms, with free gills. They generally grow on rotten wood, and include the shield fungi.

C. Deer Shield (Pluteus cervinus)

The bell-shaped cap is sepia to dark umber with radiating streaks. The gills are white turning pink. The species is found on rotting stumps and trunks.
