The Noctuidae - or Owlet Moths - are sometimes considered the largest family of butterflies and moths, with nearly 12,000 different species.

C. Dark Arches (Apamea monoglypha)

The Dark Arches moth has a wingspan of between 45 and 55 millimetres. It is a common species, readily attracted to the light of a moth trap. This individual was trapped (and then released) in the cemetery on the night of June 10th 2022.

This species of moth overwinters as a larva, emerging in June to feed on various grasses, of which there are many in the cemetery.
