A. Butterflies & Moths

B. Whites and Yellows (PIERIDAE)

These are mostly quite large butterflies, with bright white or yellow wings. They 'flap' as they fly.

C. Clouded Yellow (Colias croceus (form helice))

This migrant arrives from the continent or from North Africa in the Spring, and eggs are laid on legumes, particularly clovers, Lucerne, and Bird's Foot Trefoil, the first and third being common in the cemetery. They emerge from the green caterpillar and chrysalis from late May until October.
