Grocer, Baking Powder Agent; Spice Traveller and Furniture Agent, William Stanford Gates, died on 12th October, 1914 in Worthing.

He was born in Uxbridge to grocer, William Stanford Gates and Emma Woolley. William Stanford Gates married Eliza Anna Pearce in Hillingdon, on July 27, 1867, when he was 22 years old. After widowhood married Maria Josepha Boardman in Hackney, London in August 1872. By 1891 William had moved from London to Worthing and worked as an agent in the spice trade.
