Story
William was born in Indore, Central India, the son of George Frederick and Anne Maud. William’s father worked in Indore as a civil engineer and his son followed him in this occupation working as the District Engineer. On 6th October 1902, William married Lauretta Adam at Mhow, Bengal. The couple had three daughters and 1 son; Alice Lauretta Maud born 1903, William Keith Frederick born 1907, Lauretta May born 1912 and Jean Florence born 1918. In 1924, William and Lauretta returned to England to live in Worthing. They settled at “Domus” 106 Heene Road. William’s father who had retired, was living in St Michael’s Road. Both son and father joined the local bowls club. William died of meningitis at Amatola Nursing Home, Shakespeare Road, Worthing on 1st March 1925. Probate was granted on 9th November to George Frederick Ford gentleman. Effects £9846 16s 11d.

“Death of Mr W J Ford”
The death occurred in a nursing home on Sunday, of meningitis, at the age of 48, of Mr William James Ford of Domus, Heene Road. Mr Ford was a civil engineer who had spent the greater part of his life in Central India in the Indore State Service and he retired something like a year ago. He had been ailing for some time but his condition had not appeared to be such as to give rise to any alarm until quite recently. He leaves a widow and four children. One of his daughters was married at Heene Church only a few weeks ago. The funeral is taking place at Heene this (Wednesday) afternoon. Deceased was a son of Mr G F Ford of Fernlea, St Michael’s Road, who was for many years in Government service in India, stationed at Indore, and who has been resident in Worthing for about four years. Father and son were members of the Bowling Club.
