From a few notes shown to the Friends of Heene Cemetery by a family member it is known that he married Eliza Phippard at Broadwater on 27 February 1893 and that they had three daughters Mabel Olive, born December 1893, Constance May born April 1896 and Kathleen Daisy born August 1897. The other reliable information has come from his death certificate. He died on 31 December 1897 of cardiac failure and he was a bathchair man. Also, he is described as an Army pensioner. Present at his death was his brother-in-law, George Teesdale, a well-known Worthing cab proprietor, who was married to Martha Phippard, one of Eliza's sisters.
