Life story

Walter George Parson was born in Jersey, Channel Islands to William Parsons from Winchester Hants and Ann Elizabeth LeDain of Jersey, Channel Islands. He was the first born of 5 children to William and Ann. Walter 1866, Emily 1868, Ada 1871, Frederick 1875 and Annie 1877. After Walter was born the family moved to Worthing and all the four siblings are born in Worthing. Walter follows his fathers trade of a Coppersmith, but by 1891 is working as a groom/ coachman and lodging with a family whose occupation is a Carter (Driver of Horse drawn vehicles) Walter marries this year to Alice Ann Bright of Puckeridge, Hertfordshire. They live in Worthing and have four children. Lilian May 1892, Mabel Ledam 1894, Reginal George 1895 and Gladys Evelyn was last born in 1900. The family move to Belsize Road and Walter continues to work as a Domestic Coachman. In 1907 at the age of 7 Daughter Gladys Evelyn Parson dies in Worthing and is buried in Heene Cemetery. The family continue to live in Belsize Road. By 1928 Walter and his wife are living at 136 Tarring Road, Worthing and he dies at home aged 62.

Lilian - Daughter of Walter Parsons

In 1911 Lilian is living with a family as a Domestic and the family Nurse, she marries in Worthing in 1916 to Charles Samuel Turrell who dies the following year at France and Flanders.

Reginald - Son of Walter Parsons

Reginald his son ran successful garages at Swandean cottages and at The Central Hotel Garage in Worthing. Reginald was married twice to Mabel M Goff in 1927 and started a family. Mabel died 25 Feb 1933 and left her £286 3d to Reginald. She is buried in Durrington Cemetery. There was a piece written in the Worthing Gazette 8 March on her funeral, and a thankyou in the local papers from Reginald for all of the letters of sympathy and floral tributes. Reginald was then married to Ada P Bloye in 1934. In 1927 Reginald was fined £3000 damages for causing the death of a Steeplechase Jockey. The money was paid to Michael Tighe's wife and five children. The motor car accident happened when the Jockey was on his way to a race and he was killed in a collision with Reginald and four others. Reginald has been in the papers many times on motoring offences of speed. Reginald dies in Worthing in 1983 aged 88
