Life story

Thomas Henry Trussler was born in 1876 and Baptised on June 11th in Tangmere, Sussex 

He was the third of six children born to Thomas Trussler of Boxgrove Sussex and Ellen Etherington of Lurgashall, Sussex. 

His parents married in Boxgrove Sussex on 4 Sept 1869.Children: Edward 1871 and Emelius 1873 were born in Crocker Hill Boxgrove. Thomas 1876, Arthur 1879, Ellen 1884 and Kate 1886 were all born in Tangmere, Sussex 

Thomas's father was an Agricultural labourer and the family lived in Tangmere village when they were growing up. Thomas and his brothers Edward and Emelius followed their fathers trade as Agricultural labourers. 

In 1906 when Thomas was 30 his Sibling Arthur dies aged 27 in Westhampnett. 

Thomas does not appear on the 1901 and 1911 Census with his parents. In 1918 at the age of 42 Thomas was working as a Railway Platelayer,

On August 1st he died at 55 The Drive in Worthing of Phthisis which is a disease characterised by wasting away of the body or part of, and Cardiac Failure. His sister who was living at 55 The Drive was present at his death. It is not known if Thomas was also living there at the time. Thomas was laid to rest at Heene Cemetery on the 5th August.

DEATH - TRUSSLER - On the 1st inst., Thomas, third son of Mr and Mrs T. Trussler of 55 The Drive, Worthing, aged 42 years.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT - Mr and Mrs T. Trussler, of 55, the Drive, wish to thank all those, especially his fellow-workmen, who have kindly expressed their sympathy with them in their great bereavement they have sustained in the loss of their son.
