Life story

Life story

Susan was born in Moreton, Thame, Oxfordshire, the daughter of Richard Gibbons Turner and his wife Susan. She was baptised in Thame on 23rd April 1870. As a young woman, Susan worked as a governess in Christchurch, Hampshire. By 1901 she had returned to Oxfordshire and was living with her family in Rotherfield Greys. After her mother died, Susan lived with her brothers George and Edward acting as their housekeeper. In 1929, George and Susan moved to Worthing, living at "Four Gables" in Brooklyn Avenue. They later moved to "Sea Breeze" in St Valerie Road. George died in 1936 and was buried at Heene. Susan continued to live at "Sea Breeze" with her friend Dorothy Smith. Susan died on 4th May 1953 at Normanton Nursing Home in Shelley Road. Probate was granted on 9th October to Westminster Bank Ltd and Thomas Littlejohn manager. Effects £14289 14s 10d.
