Life story

Life story

Sarah was born in Liverpool, the daughter of Jonas Barrett Hewitt and his wife Mary. Jonas was a journalist. The family lived at 8 Snowden Terrace, Castle Street, Everton. By 1851, the family had moved to London, living in Southwark. In 1866, Sarah married Thomas Pike Skinner at Holy Trinity Church, Islington on 17th March. The couple had eight children, the first Margaret Maude was born in 1867. She was followed by Lynette born in 1873 ( a new born son died in 1872), Thomas Hewitt born in 1875, Elsie Winifred born in 1876, Ernest born in 1880, John born in 1882, Dorothy born in 1883 and Charles Henry born in 1886. Sarah died at the family's London home 22 Pont Street on 6th February 1902. No probate.
