Roland Henry Brandreth was born on 1st July 1878 at Dickleburgh, Norfolk, where his father, the Reverend Henry Brandreth, 45yrs, was Rector. His mother was Louisa Victoria, nee Jackson, 41yrs, and he had an older sister, Catherine, 6yrs.

Roland graduated from Selwyn College, Cambridge, B.A in 1899, he then studied theology and was ordained in 1903. He held curacies in Leytonstone and Walthamstowe, and from 1915 1938 he served as Vicar of St. Alban's, Upton Park, and was Chaplain to the Forces 1918 1920.

In 1914, on 10th June, aged 36yrs, Roland married Winifred Amy Nellie Fox, 19yrs, at West Ham, Essex; they had 2 sons, Henry b.1915, and Ashton b.1920.

After his retirement, Roland and Winifred moved to Worthing, living at 28, St. Michael's Road, where Roland died on 5th October 1950.

Probate was granted to his widow, effects, £6116 14s 6d. Value 2022 - £233,000.
