Story
Robert was born in Hackney, the son of William Mozart Russell and his wife Sarah Maria. He was baptised at St John’s Church, Hackney on 18th September 1845. Robert’s father worked for the Corporation of London as a collector of coal duties. Robert was one of 12 children. William died on 19th December 1869 and Sarah moved the family to Hampstead. By then, Robert was working as a clerk to the City of London Dues Office. On 3rd October 1878, Robert married Mary Emily de St Croix at Seaford church. She was the daughter of the late Vicar of Glynde in Sussex. The couple set up home in Hendon. By 1891, they had moved to Reigate, Surrey. In 1908, they moved to Worthing, living in Browning Road. Robert died on 28th December 1917. Probate was granted on 13th February 1918 to Mary Emily Russell widow. Effects £1409 2s 5d.
