Story

Although he lived for a while in Sydenham, Kent, Robert was a Sussex man. He was the seventh child of George Green and his wife Elizabeth nee Pea, sometimes spelt Pey. Robert was baptised at Angmering on 20th April 1834. He married in Bromley, Kent in 1859. His wife was Diana Elizabeth Graves and she was commonly known by her second name. The couple had seven children and from 1901 as a widower, Robert lived with his daughter Elizabeth Mary. She was married to Britton Braden, a navvy and they lived at 3 Kilburn Terrace, Worthing. The family were living at 65 The Drive, Worthing in 1911 and although Britton was head of the household, Robert signed the census form with his mark, witnessed by the enumerator. Robert died aged 82 in 1916. No probate.
