Life story

Life story

Rueben was born in Poling, Sussex, the son of Samuel and Elizabeth. He was baptised at Poling on 16th June 1801. Rueben was a farm worker and had moved to Heene by 1824. On 22nd October that year, Rueben married Frances (Fanny) Giles at Broadwater Church. The couple settled in Heene where Rueben worked on a local farm. They had seven children, James, Rueben, Richard, Caroline, Samuel, William and Kate. By 1861, the family were living in Heene Lane. Rueben died about 20th April 1876 and was buried on 23rd April. No probate.
