Philip Lindey Woodcock was born on 26th August, 1898 in Lightcliffe, York, to Charles Varey Woodcock an accountant, and Kate Elizabeth Walton. He had one brother who died in infancy, another brother, Arthur and a sister called Ida. He died aged 7 months in Worthing and was buried in Heene Cemetery, West Worthing, Sussex. His brother, Arthur, was killed in 1917, whilst serving as an officer in WW1.
