Life story

Nellie Ellen was born on the 5th July 1886 in Camberwell to Lewis and Jane Notley. The family were living at 260 Barry Road Camberwell London in 1891. Her Father Lewis was an employer with a Building and Contracting business. He was also a councillor and chairman of the public health committee. In 1902 Lewis was appointed as a committee member for the arrangements of the Kings Dinner in Camberwell. This was a meal arranged for the poor and each committee member had to submit names from their ward. There were also processions and street decorations organised. Nellie Ellen died on the 26th April 1903 in Worthing of a cerebral haemorrhage and a gastric ulcer, her Father was in attendance at Westbury Heene Road Worthing.
