Her father was an umbrella manufacturer. Nelly was one of five daughters and one son. By 1871, the family had moved to West Ham close to Thomas's business. Thomas died in 1883, leaving an estate of over £6000 (approx. £402000 in 2020). His son Frederick took over the running of the business but sold it before 1901. The family moved to Wanstead and then to South Woodford after their mother's death. By 1914, Frederick and four of his sisters had moved to Worthing, living at "Seabank" in Manor Road. Florence was the only sister to marry and lived in Southend. In 1918, the family were living at 73 Marine Parade and then moved to "Talybont" in Shakespeare Road. Annie was the first sister to die in 1927, followed by Frederick in 1942. Both were buried in the family plot at Heene Cemetery. Florence moved to Worthing about 1945 and died in 1950. She was buried at Durrington Cemetery. The three remaining sisters moved to 24 Wordsworth Road where Mary Anne died in 1953. Nellie died on 6th May 1955. Probate was granted on 26th August to Beatrice Maude Fisher spinster. Effects £2779 1s 7d.
