Life story

Millicent Dunk was born in 1862 at Wadhurst, Sussex. Her father, George, 39yrs, was a Groom, her mother Martha, 32yrs. When she was 8yrs she had 3 sisters, Fanny 10, Elizabeth 6 and Catherine 4, they lived at Horse Grove Cottage, Wadhurst, Sussex. Her father, George, was now an Agricultural Labourer. In 1880 she had a fourth sister, Ellen. When Millicent was 28yrs. of age, in 1891, she was employed as a Housekeeper/Domestic to the Vicar of Coatham, Yorkshire, Rev. John P. Fallowes. She stayed in employment with the Vicar and his family, moving to the Rectory at Heene, Worthiing and remaining there until her death in 1903. Millicent Dunk died on June 28th, 1903, at Heene Rectory, Manor Road, Worthing, aged 41yrs. She was a spinster and left her estate of £44 14s to her widowed mother, Martha. Value -2020 - £5K. Her death certificate gave the cause of death as Fatty degeneration of the heart. Enlargement of the liver (P.M.) Fatal syncope.
