Life story

Mary Jane Lloyd was born in Manchester, Lancashire, in 1844, the daughter of William Lloyd, 27yrs, Salesman, and Esther, 27yrs, nee Griffiths. She was 1 of 8 children.

On February 4th, 1873, Mary Jane, 28yrs, married an engineer, William March, 38yrs, at Manchester, St. Mary, St. Denys, and St. George. They lived in St. Pancras, London, and had 7 children over the following eleven years: Harold b.1874, Alfred b.1877, Rosetta b.1878, Maria b.1880, Charles b.1881, Emma b.1881, and Lillian b.1884.

The family moved to Hampstead, William was now a mechanical engineer, and in 1911 they were living in East Finchley, where William was a Lift Maker. At some point, William and Mary retired to Worthing, Sussex, where they lived at 119, Rowlands Road.

Mary Jane died on 4th April 1925, aged 82yrs.
