Story

Mary’s father, Edward James Hill, was Rector of Panfield in Essex and her mother was Emily Ann nee Aspinall. In 1880, Mary married Henry William Burgess at Braintree in Essex and the couple set up home in Reigate, Surrey, at ‘Southview’, London Road. By 1891 they had four children aged 6, 4, 2 and 1. The 1901 census could not be found but in 1911 the family was living in Hove. Henry died in 1918. In the 1939 Register Mary is shown living with her daughter, Sylvia, at 30, Winchester Road, Worthing, which was still her address when she died although she actually died at Gothic House, High Street, Angmering, leaving £7436 7s 3d to ‘the Public Trustee’ (according to her Probate announcement)
