Life story

Life story

Marion was born in Croydon, Surrey, the daughter of Henry and Augusta Mary. She was baptised at St John the Baptist church, Croydon on 22nd August 1863. Augusta  died in 1870. On 16th September 1890, Marion married Rev. Charles Joseph Hollis at St John the Evangelist church, Shirley, Croydon. The couple moved to Sheffield where Charles had been appointed curate at St John's church. Between 1894 and 1900, they lived in Bath where Charles was Curate at Bath Abbey. Charles and Marion had four children, Marjorie, Lorna, Leslie and Daisy Marion. In 1900, the family moved to Worthing as Charles had been appointed Vicar of Holy Trinity church in Shelley Road. They lived at the vicarage until 1939 when Charles retired due to ill health. The family moved to "Lynton" in Wykeham Road, Worthing and Marion continued to live here after Charles' death in 1941. Marion died at The Grange, Colworth near Oving, Sussex on 11th August 1960. Probate was granted on 11th October to National Westminster Bank Ltd. Effects £4938 5s 11d.
