Life story

Marian Beard (aka Marion) was born in Bromley, Kent, in 1824, to Nathaniel Beard, Esquire, a Brewer by trade, and Catherine Charlotte Beard. She had four siblings, Nathaniel born 1810, Thomas, William and Margaret Mary born 1820. On 7th July 1866, aged 42yrs, she married Alexander Pearson Fletcher, at St. Stephen's, Paddington, he was a 45yr old widower with an 8yr old son, an Actuary by occupation. He later became a Manager and Director of an Insurance Company and after retiring, Marian and her husband moved to Edenhurst, Belsize Road, Worthing. Marian died, aged 78yrs, on 25th December 1902.
