Margaret Louisa Watts, known as Maggie, was born into a family of boot and shoemakers; her great x 3 times grandfather, Nathaniel, the founder of the business, was trading in 1780 in Young Street, Kensington where he supplied handmade boots and shoes to the elite including members of the Royal Family at nearby Kensington Palace.

Maggie's father was Nathaniel Lovel Watts who had owned seven shoe shops in London before moving to Worthing in about

1888 for health reasons. He set up his shoe business at 6, Chapel Road, where his family resided over the shop in 1891, when Maggie was born.
She was the youngest of 7 siblings, Frederick 16, Charles 14, Emily 12, Edgar 5, Alice 8 and Edward 3.
In 1901, Maggie, 10yrs. and Edward, 13yrs. (who were both born severely handicapped), lived at Seeburgh, Lansdowne Road, Worthing with their mother, Emily 55yrs.
The business, known as F. A. Watts and Sons became the premier shoe shop in Worthing and continued trading as a family business for over one hundred years.
Margaret Louisa Watts died on 21st October 1905, aged 14yrs, at Seeburgh, Lansdowne Rd., Worthing.
