Life story

Lilian Maria Eels was born on 14th July 1883, in Croydon, Surrey, she was baptised on 2nd September at Christ Church, Norwood. Her parents were Thomas Walter Eels, 43yrs, Silversmith, and Martha, 41yrs, nee Brownsword. Lilian had 2 brothers, Arthur, born 1873, and a younger brother, Sydney Ernest, born 1884.

Lilian began her career in office administration, aged 17yrs, moving from a commercial clerk in 1901 to a legal clerk in 1911. At 37yrs of age, in 1921, she married a solicitor, Trelawny Frederick Boodle, 59yrs, on 20th April, at St. Stephens Church, Paddington. It was a first marriage for them both.

Trelawny and Lilian then moved to Worthing, Sussex, where they lived at Homestead, Bath Road, Heene. On 28th April 1930, Lilian was widowed when Trelawny died aged 69yrs. She remained in Worthing, living at 56, Manor Road, in 1939, and finally at 164a, Heene Road.

Lilian died on 27th January 1961, aged 78yrs, at 22, Mill Road, Worthing. Probate was granted to Eric Eels, retired Marine Insurance Official, and Arthur Trelawny Boodle, Solicitor, effects, £5749 17s 4d. Value 2021 - £131K.
