Alexander had been a specialist in Italian dance and was from the London borough of Becontree. Laura was born in the Regents Park area of London and had two sisters, Isabella Caroline (1842) and Amelia (1848). In 1871, Laura was an assistant in her mother's ladies dancing school along with her sister Amelia. They lived in Leighton Grove, St. Pancras. In 1891, Laura, rejoined the family in Leighton Grove and was also a dance teacher and their mother was living on independent means. 1901 sees Laura and Amelia living in Arlington Road, Ealing after their mother's death in 1898. The sisters retired to Hinton Cottage, Harrow Road, Worthing and in 1911 lived on private means with a servant. Laura died on 16 March 1915 and was buried in Heene Cemetery.
