Life story

Kathleen was born in Worthing, the daughter of William Albert George and Sophie. Her father was a baker and the family lived at 16 Milton Street. Kathleen's mother died in 1911 and her father moved to 45 Cobden Road where his father Warden lived. By 1914, William was living and working at 34 Thorn Road. As a young woman, Kathleen trained as a pastry cook. She was involved in charity work and was a member of the Worthing Branch of the Junior Imperial League. She was also Cub Mistress of 4th Worthing Cubs, a member of St Andrew's Church, a member of the Guild of St Mary and worked at St Christopher's House, a children's convalescent home in Stoke Abbott Road. By 1924, Kathleen and her father had moved to Sussex House in Rowlands Road and this is where she died on 7th April 1934, two months after her father.. She had been ill for several months with tuberculosis. Probate was granted on 4th May to John Warden Constable journalist. Effects £1036 6s 9d.

"Death of Former Cub Mistress"

Miss Kathleen Laura May Constable, a former cub mistress of the 4th Worthing Pack of Cubs has died at her home Sussex House, Rowlands Road, Worthing. Miss Constable who was aged 28 years was the only daughter of Mr W A G Constable for many years a Worthing master baker, who died two months ago. She had been ill for several months (Buried at Heene).
