Katherine Fleming (buried 1928)

Katherine was born in St Pancras, Middlesex, the daughter of Palgrave and Patience nee Nash. Her father was a solicitor and attorney at law. She was baptised on 16th November 1848 at St Mark's church, Myddleton Square, Islington. Patience died in 1872 and two years later, Palgrave married Harriett Studley. The family moved to Liverpool, living in Toxteth. On 10th March 1875, Katherine married Quintin Fleming, a timber merchant, at Christ Church, Toxteth. The couple had one son named Palgrave Quintin who was born at the beginning of 1877. Sadly he died in the August aged 8 months and was buried in Toxteth Cemetery. Both Quintin and his father had business dealings in Ireland and both families often travelled there, hence the lack of census records. Palgrave Simpson died in 1891. By 1909, Quintin was suffering from illness and after spending time in Brighton, he died at The Beacon, Minehead, Somerset on 18th January. Katherine moved to the Alexandra Hotel, Hyde Park Corner in London and lived there until just before her death in 1928. She died at "Caer Gwent" nursing home in Wykeham Road, Worthing on 1st December 1928. Probate was granted on 16th January 1929 to Aubrey Allan Edwards Esquire. Effects £4945 11s 11d.
