Story

George and Matilda’s fourth child, Thomas Macdonald was born in Heene in 1870 and was a Carpenter by 1891, then still living at home with his parents.
He married Kate (nee Uttley, born in Chalton, Hampshire) at St Mary’s Broadwater in 1890.
By 1893 Thomas was Publican at the Montague Brewery in Montague Street.
There was a Montague Brewery and Retailer at 62 Montague Street, where Thomas and Kate were living during the 1890’s. It opened about 1868 at 46 Montague Street, which became 64 after a re-numbering.

Thomas and Kate had only one child, Daisy Lucy Kathleen, born in 1892.
In the 1899 Directory for Worthing, Thomas was working as a Brewer at 62 Montague Street, and as a Pork Butcher at number 64! (This was still the case in 1913.)
In the 1901 census, Daisy, then 8, was at the Brewery with her parents and her Grandparents.
By 1911 the family were at 64 Montague Street, Thomas a Publican with Kate and Daisy Assisting in the Business.

Thomas died in 1944, Kate in 1952 (at 20 Church Way), and they were buried with Daisy.
