Life story

In 1851 John is living with his Parents at 4 The Polygon, Bristol. John is attending school.

In 1861 he is living with his parents at Wesley Place, Tunstall, Stoke on Trent. His Father is a Weslyan minister. John has no occupation.

By 1871 John has moved with his family to 5 St. Paul's Yard, Portsea, Portsmouth. John is shown not to have any occupation or calling.

By 1881 John and his family have moved to Worthing and are living at 15 West Buildings.

John's Father died in 1884 in Worthing and John and his two siblings, Elizabeth and Christina remained living with their Mother at 15 West Buildings.  Their Mother died in 1894 and the three children moved to Hill Crest, Manor Road Worthing.  On the 1911 census John is shown to be feeble minded.

John died 5th March 1918 in Worthing and the probate record shows he left £2689 12s 10s (approx £78,000 in 2020) to his Sister Christina Ann Pengelly
